Pay your Zakat.
'In their wealth there is a known share for the beggars and the destitute.’ (The Quran, 70:24-25)
All able and eligible Muslims are required to pay Zakat (2.5% of savings) as a means of spiritual and material purification annually.
The sacred obligation of Zakat ul Mal (Zakat) is separate and in addition to Zakat ul Fitr (fitrana).
Eligibility requires possession of an amount of wealth that is greater than the Nisab over the period of Hawl.
Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must have to be eligible to pay the Zakat and equals the current value of 3 ounces of gold or 21 ounces of silver.
Hawl is the period of time you held an asset before Zakat requirements apply to the asset (generally, one lunar year).
Zakat is one of the most significant means
to fight poverty and purify yourself.
